Eddie Izzard defends the British writer, saying she doesn't believe the author is transphobic.
JK Rowling has recently made headlines, not because of her writing, but because of her controversial comments about the trans community, and the 58-year-old comic decided to step in to defend her.
Izzard came out as gender fluid not long ago, stating that she prefers she/her pronouns. In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the English comedian declared "I don't think JK Rowling is transphobic". She then stated "I think we need to look at the things she has written about in her blog. Women have been through such hell over history". She continued by saying she hates " the idea [they] are fighting between [themselves], but it’s not going to be sorted with the wave of a wand".
Several Harry Potter stars, including Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, have shared statements denouncing and criticizing the 55-year-old author's comments, while also manifesting their support for the trans community.
