There's BIG news regarding Britney Spears' conservatorship!

The 39-year-old singer is one step closer to ending her conservatorship.

Britney Spears just scored a new victory in her ongoing conservatorship battle.

The 39-year-old singer was granted permission to hire her own lawyer during a hearing in Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday.

Britney has now hired Matthew Rosengart, a prominent Hollywood attorney and former federal prosecutor. According to experts, this move could mean a great deal in the star's efforts to end her conservatorship and reclaim her life.

The crooner had previously requested the right to hire her own legal counsel during her bombshell testimony last month. At the time, she was represented by Samuel Ingham, her court-appointed attorney for 13 years, who subsequently resigned.

During her June hearing, the "Oops!... I Did It Again" hitmaker publicly addressed the controversial conservatorship in which she has been since 2008 for the first time, detailing many abuse allegations against her father Jamie Spears, her management and other members of her family.

Britney also asked to terminate the conservatorship without being evaluated and see a therapist at her home once a week, among other requests.

Following her testimony, many celebrities took to social media to voice their support of Britney Spears, including her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Find out what he said here!
