After 13 years, Britney spoke for the first time about her conservatorship. Check out the shocking things she said.
For the first time in 13 years, the 39-year-old popstar yesterday (June 23) spoke publicly about her conservatorship during a live virtual court hearing. Here are some of the most shocking things Britney Spears had to say:
1. She's actually sad
Although we can see her dancing on her Instagram account, the singer revealed that she's not doing well... “After I’ve told the whole world I’m okay, it’s a lie. I’m not happy and I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry every day... It's my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back,” the 39-year-old popstar revealed during her court hearing.
2. She wants to sue her family
Also, Britney said that it's a shame that they say that she's great in what she does, pays the salaries of hundreds of people, but say that she can't be independent. "All I want is to own my money... and for this to end... and for my boyfriend to be able to fucking drive me in his car. And honestly.... I want to be able to sue my family," Britney added.
3. She's feels she's been exploited
"They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life, so I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say," Britney revealed, "A lot has happened since two years ago ... I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.”
“I haven’t done anything in the world to deserve this treatment. It’s not OK to force me to do anything I don’t want to do,” the popstar added.
4. She believes the conservatorship is "abusive"
“I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive," the 'Womanizer' singer said during the live virtual hearing, "There are thousands of abusive conservatorships ... they need to be reminded that they actually work for me."
5. She can't have babies, or marry her boyfriend
Britney revealed she still has an IUD in her body so that she doesn't have children. She also stated that she can't marry her current boyfriend, Sam Asghari. “I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out," she stated.
"I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told with the conservatorship I was not able to get married and have a baby," Britney added.
