Mena Suvari recalls an 'uncomfortable' encounter with Kevin Spacey

Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017.

Mena Suvari is looking back on the time she spent working with Kevin Spacey on the set of Amercian Beauty, years after the abuse allegations against the disgraced actor made headlines.

In a new interview with People, the 42-year-old actress recalled a particular moment while filming the 1999 award-winning movie that left her feeling uneasy.

Spacey one day brought her inside a side room in preparation for a scene, where they "lay on the bed very close to one another", said Suvari. "He was sort of gently holding me. It was very peaceful but weird and unusual."

The actress then said that she "thought of that day", which had left her puzzled, when she learned about the sex abuse claims made against the Oscar winner.

In 2017, actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making a sexual advance against him while apparently intoxicated in 1986, when he was 14 and Spacey was 26. At the time, the Usual Suspects apologized via Twitter for "what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior" but stated that he didn't remember the incident.

Following Rapp's claims, fifteen others came forward alleging similar abuse, including filmmaker Tony Montana, Richard Dreyfuss' son Harry and eight people who worked on House of Cards.

However, the actor remains unconvicted of any of the allegations made against him and is even set to star in a new movie
