Lil Nas X is a proud father —to his new album, that is. The 22-year-old rapper released his highly-anticipated debut album Montero on Thursday, and he celebrated the exciting news with a bizarre video of him 'giving birth' to the LP.
In the clip, which was posted to his social media accounts, Lil Nas is rushed to the hospital. Once there, two nurses help him deliver his 'baby' by instructing him to breathe and push. The hitmaker eventually pushes out Montero, which he then lovingly cradles in his arms as he tells the nurses, "It's already GRAMMY-nominated."
Earlier in the day, Lil Nas shared another video, this time announcing that he was going into labor after "having contractions" ahead of Montero's delivery. The clip showed the Grammy winner cradling his baby bump before going to the hospital to welcome "baby Montero."
"BABY MONTERO IS OTW ", he wrote in the caption.
Lil Nas first began joking around with his faux pregnancy earlier this month, celebrating the release date of his debut album with a hilarious maternity shoot. "SURPRISE!", he wrote on Instagram at the time. "I can't believe i'm finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy ‘MONTERO' is due September 17, 2021."
Montero consists of 15 songs and features some of music's biggest names, including Elton John, Doja Cat, Jack Harlow, Megan Thee Stallion, and Miley Cyrus —the latter of whom had planned to collaborate with Lil Nas before the pandemic hit.
