The classic show is back with a new update, coming to HBO Max!
The original show premiered in 2007 and became one of the most recognizable shows in history, besides launching the careers of stars like Blake Lively and Penn Badgley. So, when rumors of a reboot started circulating over the internet, fans of the beloved show began wondering how was this reboot going to be adapted to current times.
Gossip Girl 2.0 will be set eight years after the original series, and it will feature an entirely new set of wealthy teenagers, with themes revolving around how much social media has changed since kids were introduced to the surveillance of Dan Humprey's Gossip Girl.
The cast of new Upper East Siders is going to be led by Emily Alyn Lind, known for 2017's The Babysitter. In Gossip Girl 2.0, Lind will take on the role of Audrey Hope, a teenager who's in a long-term relationship and is beginning to ponder on what else is out there. Other members of the cast include Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, and Savannah Smith as Monet de Haan.
As for the 2007 cast, wether any of the original cast members will reprise their character remains a mystery. However, both Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester have left the door open to the posibility.
