During her latest interview, the 51-year-old singer opened up about politics and one of her songs being in Obama's playlist.
Gwen Stefani addressed whether she's a Republican in her latest interview with Paper magazine! During the conversation, the 51-year-old singer opened up about her politics and one of her songs being in Obama's playlist. "If you're going to be a star, that's what you get," she said.
The first song I ever wrote was a song called 'Different People,' which was on the Obama playlist.
In October 2020, she got engaged to country singer, Blake Shelton, who she got to know while working together in The Voice. Their relationship puzzled some fans, as the 44-year-old singer came close to endorse former Republican President Donald Trump in the 2016 election, and, earlier this year, he was criticized for releasing a song about finding small joys during periods of economic struggle.
However, during the interview, the popstar subtly revealed she's not a Republican... "I can see how people would be curious, but I think it's pretty obvious who I am," she stated, "I've been around forever. I started my band because we were really influenced by ska, which was a movement that happened in the late '70s, and it was really all about people coming together. The first song I ever wrote was a song called 'Different People,' which was on the Obama playlist."
