The anticipated LP was released earlier this week.
Drake is celebrating an amazing accomplishment! The 34-year-old rapper released his anticipated sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, on Friday, over a year after it was initially announced — and it's already breaking records!
Only a day after being dropped, the LP became Spotify's most-streamed album in a single day. According to what a representative for the streaming service told Complex, the record was also previously held by Drake, only with 2018's Scorpion.
The Grammy winner later took to Instagram to celebrate his exciting streaming feat, posting a photograph of a billboard that announced his achievement and congratulated him.
But that's not the only record that Certified Lover Boy broke! Apple Music revealed that Drake's new project became the most-streamed album of the year on their streaming platform, also turning him into the most-streamed artist of 2021.
Certified Lover Boy was originally set to be released in January but got delayed due to health issues that Drake had been struggling with at the time. In late August, the crooner finally announced a release date, taking to Instagram to share the news.
The new LP marks Drake's first full-length release since Scorpion. He previously collaborated with several artist in between, including Travis Scott and Bad Bunny. The hitmaker also dropped other new material, such as 2020's Dark Lane Demo Tapes and the EP Scary Hours 2.
