The couple announced their engagement earlier this month.
Britney Spears is securing her finances. According Entertainment Tonight, the 39-year-old singer's attorney Matthew Rosengart stated that Britney is in the process of "engaging a family law attorney to craft a prenuptial agreement" after getting engaged to her boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
In a court filing obtained by the outlet, Rosengart cited Britney's engagement and the upcoming drafting of a prenup as a reason why her father, Jamie Spears, should be removed as conservator as soon as possible.
Rosengart claims that Jamie's involvement as conservator of the songstress' estate would "impede the ability to negotiate and consummate a contract" that would protect Britney's personal assets.
"The prenuptial agreement process will require communications with and cooperation from the Conservator of her Estate but, as referenced above and well-established on record, given that Ms. Spears’s relationship with that Conservator (her father) is broken, Mr. Spears’s continued involvement would impede the ability to negotiate and consummate a contract that all can agree is in Ms. Spears’s bests interests", read the court document.
Asghari previously assured fans that he and Britney would be signing a prenup after fans and followers —including actress Octavia Spencer— expressed concern over the songstress' finances. "Of course we're getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase [sic] she dumps me one day", the model joked on his Instagram Stories.
The couple, who first met while filming the music video for Britney's 2016 single "Slumber Party", announced their engagement on September 12. At the time, the pop superstar shared the exciting news on Instagram, sharing a clip of herself showing off her ring.
