The American actor strikes again with his thoughts on grooming
Just when you thought we heard the last word on the saga of the stars, Jake Gyllenhaal broached the subject once again, trying to erase his earlier comments on his hygiene habits.
"I don't know what it was," he said during a screening of his upcoming Netflix movie The Guilty, according to BuzzFeed. "I answered a question where he was being sarcastic and ironic, and he followed me around",
"Unfortunately, I took a shower before coming here," he continued. "So, I'm sorry." The answer he was referring to was the one he gave to Vanity Fair, published in August, after being asked if there was "anything revealing" about his shower ritual.
"More and more I find that bathing is less necessary, sometimes," replied the star. "I think, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that. But I also think there is a whole world of no bathing that is also really useful for maintenance of the skin, and we clean ourselves naturally ".
This had been the last reply on a topic raised days earlier by Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast.
"You shouldn't get rid of all the natural oil in your skin with one bar of soap every day," he argued during an episode with Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, who weren't as baffled as some in the audience when the discussion went viral.
"I don't wash my body with soap every day", the actress told him. "But I wash armpits, breasts, holes and soles".
As for Kutcher, he explained: "I wash my armpits and crotch every day, and nothing else". "I got a Lever 2000 bar that always delivers. Nothing else".
His thoughts on the matter extended to his daughter Wyatt, 6, and Dimitri, 4.
"When I had children," Kunis recalls, "I didn't wash them every day either. I was not the father who bathed my newborns, ever".
