For 10 years, the 36-year-old actress has portrayed the iconic role from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Can you imagine a better actress for Black Widow than Scarlett Johansson? The 39-year-old actress revealed that she didn't get the role at first! Check out what happened after that on this note!
Johansson's character first appeared in Iron Man 2, later it appeared in The Avengers, two of the Captain America films, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Johansson got candid about not being chosen for the role at first:
I was a big fan of the first Iron Man. And I wanted to work with Jon [Favreau] and Robert [Downey Jr.] and then I did not get the role and I was pretty bummed about that, happens all the time.
The actress explained how her misfortune changed. "Then, I fatefully--several weeks later, the actor who was cast in the role originally was not able to do it because of a scheduling conflict," she recalled. "So, Jon called me and we met again and I said, ‘Yes, I’m extremely available still.’"
“If anybody ever asks me about what advice I have to other actors who are trying to make it I say, ‘Every opportunity is an opportunity to work, and you’ll never get a better call than when you thought you lost a job then got it.’ I was so excited to have a second chance at it,” she added.
Earlier this month, Johansson got candid about the future of her character, "I really am happy with the work I accomplished in my last decade-plus at Marvel. I feel like I’m going out on a high note with a movie I’m incredibly proud of." Also, she what she most liked about her MCU character here!
