"I was at a crossroads in my career. I didn’t know if I wanted to keep pursuing acting because I had been receiving so many 'no’s'," MJ Rodriguez, who plays Blanca in the show, started saying about her audtion for the show, "Then two opportunities came to me. One was my first Broadway show; then I saw this breakdown for Pose in Backstage magazine. I saw the description of Blanca and what she represented, and I knew, I want this role."

Dominique, who plays Mother Elektra in the show, also opened up about finally getting the character, and not settling for what she thought life was.

"I had settled into understanding that there were certain levels in life that I would never get to. I did Strut, executive-produced by Whoopi Goldberg and Tom Leonardis. And I faced the age barrier because I was already 40 years old," the 46-year-old actress said, "Then I got the call from my agent at the time, who told me about this show. I read for the character Elektra. I only saw Elektra."

Indya, who plays Angel, also opened up about her audition and revealed she didn't now who Ryan Murphy was before auditioning for Pose! "When I auditioned [for Angel], there were a lot of people in the room. Now I’m coming into this business very naive. I didn’t have a familiarity with who Ryan Murphy was," the 26-year-old actress and model stated, "I didn’t know if this was for me. I didn’t know if I deserved it. This is just so far from what we think our reality gets to be."
