Speculation began after the former costars admitted that they had a crush on each other during the 'Friends' reunion.
Jennifer Aniston is setting the record straight about those David Schwimmer dating rumors! In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 52-year-old actress shut down claims that she and her Friends costar were an item.
"That was bizarre. I could not believe that, actually. Like, really? That's my brother! But I understand it, though", she said. "It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies for dreams to come true."
During the highly-anticipated Friends reunion earlier this year, Aniston and Schwimmer —who played off-again, on-again couple Rachel Green and Ross Geller on the beloved series—admitted that there was an offscreen crush between them.
"At some point, we were crushing hard on each other", Schwimmer explained back in May. "But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."
"Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television.' Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop", Aniston quipped.
The Golden Globe winner later explained that, instead of acting on their feelings, the costars simply "channeled" that energy into their iconic characters.
"We were in relationships and it was always never the right time and it wouldn't have worked", she said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in June. "The beauty of that was that whatever feelings we had we just literally channeled everything into Ross and Rachel and I think that's maybe why it resonated the way it did."
