Jamie Lee Curtis supports Scarlett Johansson amid her Disney lawsuit

The actress recently filed a lawsuit against the studio over the earnings from 'Black Widow'.

Jamie Lee Curtis is defending Scarlett Johansson amid her ongoing legal battle against Disney. The 62-year-old actress recently wrote a heartfelt piece celebrating Johansson being named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People.

In the article, Curtis openly supported her 36-year-old colleague and accused Disney of using "manipulation" in an attempt to play down Johansson's demands.

The Oscar nominee filed a lawsuit against the studio in July, alleging that releasing Black Widow on both theaters and streaming caused her to lose a considerable amount of money due to contractual reasons. According to her, her contract stated that she was entitled to the Marvel film being released only theatrically as her salary was largely based on how well it did at the box office. Disney then fired back by calling the lawsuit "sad and distressing" in a statement.

In her piece, Curtis began by writing that she always felt a closeness to Johansson "because she was born on my birthday, in the year I was married."

The Knives Out star went on to praise Johansson for her performance as her mother, Janet Leigh, in the 2012 movie Hitchcock. She also outlined the actress' eventful year, which included the birth of her first child with husband Colin Jost.

"I recently watched her own the screen as the Black Widow, who exacts revenge on a powerful figure who manipulates (emphasis on man) women to fight for him", wrote Curtis. "And then I saw her brilliant response to a real-life manipulation (same emphasis), when she filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the studio, alleging its decision to release the film simultaneously in theaters and on streaming cost her substantial losses in pay."

"Whether as an assassin with a conscience, an actor with an emotional center or, having just given birth to her second child, a fierce mother, the message is clear: Don't f---- with this mama bear", Curtis concluded.

Curtis isn't the only prominent Hollywood figure to show Johansson her support. Earlier this year, her Marvel co-star Elizabeth Olsen weighed in on the situation. Click here to read what she said!
