The 25-year-old model spoke about her daughter's birth at her home in Pennsylvania.
Due mainly to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gigi Hadid's daughter Khai was born at her mother's own house, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, sorrounded by her loved ones: her father, Zayn Malik; her grandmother Yolanda Hadid; and her aunt, Bella Hadid.
“I was so exhausted, and I looked up and he’s holding her. It was so cute,” said Gigi during an interview with Vogue magazine referring to the moment her baby was out and her partner Zayn held her in his arms for the first time.
Also, Gigi stated that her doula, Malibu High classmate Carson Meyer, had prepared her mentally for the pain she was going to go through during labor: “I knew it was going to be the craziest pain in my life, but you have to surrender to it and be like, ‘This is what it is.’ I loved that.”
While the 25-year-old model trusted Bella, Zayn and her mother were "proud" of her, she confessed she saw them "in terror" at certain points of labor. “Afterward, Z and I looked at each other and were like, We can have some time before we do that again,” she said.
Gigi revealed her baby girl's name on Instagram in January and Zayn also revealed a new tattoo with Khai's name in Arabic some weeks later (which means "the chosen one"). “She was so bright right away,” Gigi said, and added: “That’s what I wanted for her, a peaceful bringing to the world.”
