Demi Lovato opened up about how being the “breadwinner” in their family as a child star impacted their family dynamic.
Demi Lovato's been vocal about how hard it was for them to be a child star and to pay family bills from a really young age. Recently, while chatting with Drew Barrymore, the 28-year-old singer opened up about being the “breadwinner” in their family and how it impacted in their family dynamic to this day.
"I noticed that when I came into the spotlight at a young age and was the breadwinner, there wasn't a manual for my parents," they started saying. Demi went on saying that the amount of money they won created an "unhealthy power dynamic" between them & their parents.
"When they tried to ground me at 17, I would say 'I pay the bills', and I cringe now when I think about that attitude, but when the world is putting you on a pedestal you kind of think you can do anything," Demi added.
