The two men got into an altercation at the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet.
Conor McGregor isn't threatened by Machine Gun Kelly. The 33-year-old MMA fighter spoke with Entertainment Tonight following his altercation with the 32-year-old rapper at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, saying that "absolutely nothing" happened.
When asked by the outlet about what led to the dispute, McGregor — who was set to present an award — said, "Absolutely nothing. I don't know. He showed up, and I don't know. I don't know the guy."
"Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters, people that actually fight, you know what I mean", he added. "I certainly don't fight little vanilla boy rappers. I don't even know the guy. I don't know anything about him, except that he's with Megan Fox."
According to photos and videos captured of the incident, McGregor rushed at Kelly and had to be restrained by security guards. A source later told People that the fight began after the Irish pro's request to take a photo with Kelly was denied by his team.
However, McGregor's rep denied he asked for a photo. "Conor and Dee [Devlin, his girlfriend] are in their seats enjoying the show. Conor appreciates all his fans", the rep said at the time, adding that Kelly "attended Conor's last fight."
A clip taken by a VMAs attendee seemingly showed McGregor charging toward Kelly and shouting at him as security guards held him back. Other photographs showed the two men standing face to face during the altercation.
Kelly took the stage during Sunday's awards ceremony for a performance of his new single, "Papercuts". Other performers included Justin Bieber, Doja Cat —who also served as host—, Olivia Rodrigo, Shawn Mendes, and Camila Cabello, and many more.
