The cookbook author lost her third child with husband John Legend in September 2020 at 20 weeks of pregnancy.
One year after his death, Chrissy Teigen is honoring her late son Jack. On Tuesday, the 35-year-old cookbook author took to Instagram to pen an emotional tribute to "the son we almost had", sharing a picture of herself crying in a hospital bed while husband John Legend held her.
"A year ago you gave me the greatest pain I could ever imagine to show me I could survive anything, even if I didn't want to", she captioned her post. "I didn't get to take care of you but you came and went to get me to love myself and take care of myself because our bodies are precious and life is a miracle. they told me it would get easier but yeah, that hasn't started yet. mom and dad love you forever."
The message, which was shared on National Sons Day, comes one year after Teigen and Legend suffered the loss their third child at 20 weeks of pregnancy in September, 2020. The former model, who suffers from endometriosis, had been put on bed rest before being hospitalized due to excessive bleeding.
The couple, who have been married since 2013, are also parents to 5-year-old daughter Luna and 3-year-old son Miles —both of whom were conceived through IVF as Teigen has struggled with infertility issues, one of the main symptoms of endometriosis, for which she underwent surgery earlier this year.
In August, Teigen revealed that she hasn't "fully processed" Jack's death while reflecting on the past year in an Instagram post. "I don't really feel like I fully processed Jack and now I don't have the alcohol to numb it away, things are just... there, waiting to be acknowledged", she wrote at the time.
