The TikTok star also wore an original y2k-era Tom Ford for Gucci dress.
Addison Rae has officially made it to the red carpet of one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world! On Monday evening, the TikTok star attended her first Met Gala, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
Rae embraced early 2000s Hollywood glam for the occasion, rocking an electric red vintage Tom Ford for Gucci gown. According to the He's All That star, she and her image architect Law Roach went with the y2k design because they wanted to "pay homage" to a designer that's known to "empower women."
"We found exactly what kind of message we wanted to put across and this dress was perfect for that", she told Vogue on the red carpet.
Rae also debuted a brand-new hair color. Though she has been slowly transitioning from dark brunette to a lighter color, Rae's hair was blonder than ever at the Met Gala, courtnesy of hairstylist and Virtue Labs Creative Director Adir Abergel. The hair was styled in a sleek straight blowout, "inspired by the early 2000 Tom Ford Gucci campaigns."
"When you look at all of the Gucci references during the Tom Ford era, everything had a certain sleekness that exuded freedom. Tom knew how to bring strength and confidence with his clothes to make a woman feel sexy. That's exactly what I wanted to do with the hair", Abergel told People.
Regarding makeup, Rae and makeup artist Mary Phillips were heavily influenced by "the beautiful but subtly bold 2000s glam of Kate Moss and Amber Valletta", so they went with "elongated bronze smoky eye with touches of gold." Phillips finished the look with a "glossy lip with golden highlights for a pop in the center."
