Kanye West isn't the only one to change his moniker after fame.

Kanye West recently made headlines when it was reported that he filed a request to legally change his name. However, the 44-year-old rapper and producer isn't the first celebrity to make a name change after achieving stardom. 

While a lot of celebrities changed their monikers before making it in Hollywood, there are plenty of others who actually did so after. These are 5 musicians and artists who changed their names after becoming famous! 

1. Kanye West

Back in 2018, the rapper took to Twitter to reveal that he would be going by Ye after the release of his album of the same name. 

Last month, it was reported that he had filed a petition to legally change his name from Kanye Omari West to Ye. In the documents, Kanye cited "personal reasons" but gave no further explanation. 

2. Diddy

The rapper changed his name multiple times.

Born Sean Combs, went by Puffy and Puff Daddy early in his career. In 2001, he changed his name to P. Diddy. Three years later, he once again switched his moniker and started simply going by Diddy.

In 2008, he announced another change, this time to Sean John. In 2011, he changed his name to Swag for a week. But that's not all: in 2017, he started going by Brother Love and finally changed his middle name from "John" to "Love" in 2021.

3. Prince

In 1993, the award-winning musician announced that he would be going by a "Love Symbol" rather than a name. Because there was no word attached to the symbol, he became The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

Fortunately, he went back to simply Prince in 2000. 

4. Lisa Bonet

The actress change her name in 1995, following her split from Lenny Kravitz, to Lilakoi Moon. However, she continues to use Lisa Bonet as her professional name. 

5. Jonathan Cheban

Kim Kardashian's best friend legally changed his name to Foodgod in 2019. According to court documents, Cheban did so to align with his restaurant-themed Instagram account.
